February Blog

To help my students with their next writing/social studies assignment, I have begun to teach our persuasive writing unit.  Currently, I am modeling for students the process that they will need to go through in order to write their persuasive essays.  This will help with their later assignment where they will need to write a persuasive essay describing why their family should or should not move West during the period of Westward Expansion in the United States.  Already knowing the process for how to write a persuasive essay will allow them to focus specifically on the historical content when it is time for us to write these persuasive essays.  To differentiate instruction for students, I am allowing students to work with a partner when they are developing their thoughts and students will have buddy editing partners.  I am really looking forward to seeing my students use their persuasive writing skills in their "To Move West or Not to Move West" essays!
